Now that most of the anime companies in America are no longer supporting VHS and going DVD only, the difference between sub and dub price is largely a moot point. Furthermore, if anything, it's probably more likely that companies would be interested in raising the price to dubs to match sub price instead of lowering the prices of subs. Anime companies in America aren't in business to help anime fans get more anime. These companies are in business to make money, and it's not very likely that an online fan petition is going to convince a translating company to lower their prices and make less money than they could just to make a certain percentage of their customers happy. As long as consumers continue to pay current prices for anime releases, companies will continue to charge current prices. -----Original Message----- From: La Eternal [mailto:la_eternal@mailcity.com] Sent: Tuesday, February 19, 2002 10:41 PM To: john@animenation.org Subject: Will my petition to get subtitiled anime prices lowered be effective Dear John, My Subtitle-Equality Petition (http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Bay/7643/p_updates.htm) has been going on for a little over 2 years now and it only has 224 signatures total. It's purpose is to get companies in the US and all over to make the prices of their subtitled anime equal or less than the prices of dubbed anime. I am wondering if I should continue to keep up this effort. What do you think? Even if the amount of signatures quadrupled within the week, would this be enough to get comapnies that need to change to actually do so? Thanks for your time, La Eternal
